A Few Good Men

The most successful movie from Rob Reiner. It obtained a good box office and nominations for the Oscar into four categories: Best Picture, Supporting Actor (Jack Nicholson), Best Sound and Best Editing .This music is not among Shaiman´s most loved works, probably because the plot causes a short score and the music is not much showy (even being right for the movie). It includes necessary public domain themes caused by the military plot, and the composer wrote sober and dramatic tunes marked by a delicate use of the piano and trumpet (the most solid element of this work). In fact, obsessive synthesized passages are those that centre the wide part of the score. Only the closing music in the movie throws something of hope in a composition dominated by a fatalistic and certainly effective tone. This composition won an ASCAP Award A curiosity: this cd release has been available and easy to find under a reduced price.

We can summarize this soundtrackof the following form:

1. A main and dark theme, dominated by the synthesizers and based on effects, a environmental theme, too different from that melodic and sentimental style of the composer and everyone knows.
2. Kaffe's theme (Tom Cruise), of a sad and dramatic tone, probably because of his dead father (the past), that placed him into the law job.
3. A dynamic and showy tune (the piano gets the main role) and perfect for the investigation (" Facts and appear "). Very similar to other theme that will appear in the Ghosts from the Past score ("On the Delta").
4. A victorious conclusion, with new music only for this part of the movie, the veredict of the trial, and perfectly indicated to make full compatible this verdict with the military plot and the honor.
